Diary of Events 2020
The following are the dates and details of specific events which have taken place or are planned for 2019. All Wednesday evening events take place at our club rooms at Hemlington Recreation Centre, Cass House Road, Hemlington, Middlesbrough.TS8 9QW
All Wednesdays, other than those listed here, are club "hands on" evenings.
Wed 15: We will start the New Year with a demonstration by club member Nigel Coates.
As we expected, Nigel gave us a very interesting and unusual demonstration. He first project was a "double sided" bowl, demonstrating the difficulties and skill required to get all the curves identical. He then went on to a more amusing project of turning a lasrge mushroom head and sticking it onto a branch to put in the garden. His final project was to make a miniature 'winged' bowl from a piece of log about 3" long and 1 1/2" diameter. Altogether a very intriguing evening's entertainment.
Wed 19: Demonstration by club chairman Stan Lax.
Stan was recovering from a recent operation so Brian Haggath stood in for tonight's demonstration.
Brian entitiled his demo 'Something a little different' and chose to do four quick easy projects which did not involve any complicated turning but caused a bit of amusement and a bit of thinking outside the box.
' His four projects were 1. A wheelbarrow bowl, 2. A 'full English breakfast' comprising fried egg, bacon, mushrooms and sausages in a frying pan, 3. a string of onions and 4. a mouse door wedge.
Wed 18: Visiting turner Richard Kennedy RPT will give our first professional demonstration of the year.
Wed 15: Club AGM.
May 13: Demonstrtation by visiting turner Margaret Garrard R.P.T. Margaret has visited us a number of times over the years but not for a while.
NOTE: This is the 2nd Wed in the month, NOT the 3rd.
Sat 13: Club demo and craft stall at Lacemakers Guild AGM, Eaglescliffe.
